Your Local Area

There are plenty of sports and football fields around Chorlton, some very close to the development: the Saint Margaret’s Sports Fields, the Whalley Range Cricket Club and the Whalley Range Sports Centre. All three are on the same road as our new houses in Manchester, making it easy to get involved in the local sports scene.

As for fitness, there are plenty of local gyms within walking distance of home, including the Hough End Leisure Centre and the Little Box Gym. The local parkrun is held at Alexandra Park every Saturday, a 23-minute walk away from home, and the Manchester Marathon is accessible to anyone within commuting distance of the city centre.

You’ll find your local green space at Alexandra Park, a 60-acre wooded space with a cricket pitch, a garden and an outdoor play area for the kids. Other playgrounds close to home include Chorlton Park, an 18-minute walk away, and Manley Park, a 13-minute walk away. You can shake up your daily jog with visits to Longford Park and the Turn Moss Playing Fields, both within a 35-minute walk of home.

Manchester is known for its historical parks, gardens and manor houses, mostly run by the National Trust. At Dalton Fields, you’re a quick 23-minute drive away from Dunham Massey, Altrincham’s famous deer park, where you can spend the day deerspotting, sitting at the cafe or exploring the 17th-century house. A 19-minute drive will take you out to Quarry Bank, a rare mill site on the edge of Manchester, while it takes a 26-minute drive to visit the North West’s famous Tatton Park.

If you’re the hiking type, Manchester’s surrounding hills don’t disappoint: from the Saddleworth Moors around Oldham to the Peak District to the east, there are plenty of opportunities to get out into nature. You can reach the peaks within a 33-minute drive, opening up walks such as Mam Tor, Hathersage and Kinder Scout.

Dalton Fields is a 9-minute walk away from the Chorlton tram stop, a lively throughway with tram departures every 1-4 minutes, even at off-peak times. Manchester’s thriving tram network opens up destinations across the city and its suburbs, from moorside Ashton and Oldham to the famed Trafford Centre and even Manchester Airport.

Manchester puts heavy focus on its public transport network, combining buses and trams into the Bee Network and making regular improvements such as purchasing additional buses and introducing new bus services. Dalton Fields is served by the bus stop at Wyeverne Road next to the development, where you can catch buses to the Trafford Centre and Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre.

While residents of new housing developments in Manchester rarely need to rely on roads because of the public transport network, Manchester’s A-roads and motorways offer commuters and holidayers an easy route in and out of Chorlton. The M60 is a quick 9-minute drive away from home, opening a direct route to all of the towns around Manchester, as well as connections to the M56, the M66, the M62 and the M61.

Dalton Fields is lucky to be located along the same tram line as Manchester Airport, putting international holidays within reach of a 38-minute rail ride. You can also drive to the airport within 12 minutes, making it easy to pick up friends and relatives from the terminals.

Families looking for new build houses in Manchester will be pleased to know that Chorlton has plenty of highly rated nurseries and schools, as well as proximity to the highly competitive University of Manchester.

The closest nursery offering full day care is the Simply Cherish Day Nursery, a quick 10-minute walk away from home. Commuting parents can also drop their children off at the Kenwood Day Nursery a 36-minute walk away, or the Little Learners Day Nursery a 37-minute walk away.

Dalton Fields benefits from six highly rated primary schools within walking distance, giving you plenty of choice to match your specifications. The closest on foot is the Manley Park Primary School, a 17-minute walk from the development, while a 20-minute walk will take you to the Oswald Road and Chorlton Park primaries. A little further out, you’ll find three more within a 30-minute walk: the Chorlton C of E, St Hilda’s and Brookburn.

Secondary students can attend the Whalley Range 11-18 High School, a sixth form a 19-minute walk away from home, allowing pupils to make their own way to school. The Chorlton High School is slightly closer at a 17-minute walk away, giving you two options for local teenagers.

Chorlton is home to several grammar schools close to the development, including the William Hulme’s Grammar School for children between 3 and 18, where pupils can participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award alongside plenty of extracurricular activities. The Stretford Grammar School is also nearby, accepting secondary students between 11 and 18 years old.

Our new build houses in Manchester are a quick tram commute away from the University of Manchester, a renowned Russell Group university in the city centre. Students living in Dalton Fields can attend without moving away from home, making it a convenient location for all kinds of education.

Dalton Fields is located along the main road of Chorlton, putting you within a 10-minute walk of the local shopping scene. Next to the tram stop, you’ll find clothing shops such as Rainbow Fashion, a co-op, a record and music shop, charity shops, cafes, and even a fishmonger called Out of the Blue.

Your closest drive-in shopping centre is the White City Retail Park, a complex with a Halfords, a Gym Group location, a Currys, a Sofaworks, a DFS and an M&S Foodhall, all a 9-minute drive away from home. For local shopping, you can visit the Stretford Mall, a town centre shopping complex with storefronts for JD Sports, the British Heart Foundation, Aldi, EE and more, alongside companies such as Hollywood Nails & Beauty and Gola Gifts.

One of Chorlton’s main attractions is its proximity to the Trafford Centre, the UK’s third largest shopping centre and a go-to day trip for anyone in the Manchester area. The Trafford Centre has 200 shops alongside a food court, a cinema, a laser quest location, mini golf and an arcade. The centre is located across the road from Chill Factore, an indoor winter wonderland for skiing and snowboarding.

As for restaurants, Chorlton has plenty of eateries to offer. From the New American Brewski Bar to The Beagle pizzeria, there are no shortage of options within walking distance of home. Sit down for gourmet pizza at the Croma Chorlton, visit the Olive & Thyme for a taste of the Mediterranean or drop by the Post Box Shawarma for a hearty meal.
